I started Made for Tea because the boxes I wanted to send people didn't exist: proper afternoon tea, and something they'd keep. I bake the scones myself here in Suffolk, the day your box is packed. The cake and biscuits come from Harris & James, a family bakery just up the road in Beccles whose standards are as fussy as mine.
The boards are solid beech, and I print them here too, your words in full colour straight onto the wood so they sit softly on it rather than being burnt in. Long after the scones are gone, that's still on their kitchen counter.

How fresh is the food when it arrives?
We bake the scones ourselves in Suffolk for your order, the day your box is packed. The cake and biscuits come from Harris & James, a family bakery in Beccles. The box keeps for three days at room temperature, and the scones are lovely warmed for a few minutes before serving.
How does delivery work, and how much does it cost?
Delivery is included in the price anywhere in mainland UK, tracked, and there is only one kind. Boxes are packed and posted the next working day after your order, so they arrive the day after that. Order on Monday, it is packed and posted Tuesday, on their doorstep Wednesday. We post Monday to Friday, so orders placed over the weekend go out on Monday. You get the tracking number by email the moment it leaves.
What can I have printed on the board?
Anything you like, laid out however you like. There is no character limit, and line breaks are kept exactly as you type them: shorter messages print larger and longer ones are set smaller to fit. Choose from three lettering styles, four ink colours and eighteen flower or symbol motifs. The board is solid beech, 23cm by 15cm, with a recess for a cup. We print it ourselves, directly onto the wood in full colour, so it will not fade or peel. Every board is checked by hand before printing, so do read your message back before you order.
Can I include a personal note?
Yes. Type your message at step three of the builder and we print it in a handwritten style onto a cotton note card, tucked under the ribbon. Notes are included at no extra cost. If you leave it blank, a plain card goes in instead.
Is it suitable for someone with allergies?
The scones, cake and biscuits contain wheat (gluten), milk and egg, and are made in a kitchen that also handles nuts, soya and sesame, so we cannot guarantee any box is nut-free. Clotted cream contains milk. The preserve and tea are free from the fourteen major allergens. Full ingredient lists are printed on every item. If you have a specific allergy in mind, email us before ordering and we will tell you exactly what we can do.
Can I send it straight to the recipient as a gift?
That is what most people do. Enter their address at checkout, tick the gift option and no prices go in the box. Your note card is the only thing they read. The confirmation and tracking come to your email, not theirs.
Do you do corporate or bulk orders?
Yes, from ten boxes upwards, each still with its own name and message on the board. We can print your logo alongside the message and schedule deliveries across several dates. Email hello@madefortea.co.uk with rough numbers and dates and we will send a quote the same day.
What is your returns policy?
Because every box is packed and printed for one person, we cannot take returns. If anything arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, send us a photo within 48 hours and we will replace it or refund you in full. Boards are printed exactly as you typed your message, so they are not refundable for spelling changes. Please read it back before you order.
